The Book “𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡” represents the history of the Syrian Orthodox church of Antioch in the erstwhile Persian empire. This book narrates the history of the Maphrianate from the sixth century to 19th century in detail. It includes the list of 81 Maphriyonos subject to the Patriarch of Antioch with specific reference to the Maphriyonos from Mor Morutho to Mor Baselius Behnam IV 1860.

This book also elaborates the way in which the Maphrianate was introduced in Malankara by the deposed Patriarch Ignatius Abded Masih II. It also exposes the illegitimacy of edicts stated as issued by deposed Patriarch Ignatius Abded Masih II.

Images of several of these documents are provided in a series of Appendix which include the Sustatikon of Mor Gregorius Abdul Jaleel, Mor Baselius Yeldo, Holy Synod decision to depose Patriarch Ignatius Abded Mashi II, Ottoman archival records detailing the decision to withdraw Firman of Patriarch Ignatius Abded Masih II based on the recommendations from the Synod and the edicts stated as issued by deposed Patriarch Ignatius Abded Masih II in Malankara.

The draft copy of the book was given to His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II in June 2022 and HH blessings, the book is completed. (https://www.facebook.com/Hymonutho/videos/1815119595585943)

The book was released on 14.05.2023 by HH Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II, handing over the first copy to HE Mor Theophilos Kuriakose Metropolitan in the presence of HE Mor Gregorius Joseph and other dignitaries and Metropolitans of Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch. HE Mor Gregorius Joseph Metropolitan introduced the book to the public and explained the major contents of the book.

The book is dedicated to the sacred memory of Rev. Fr. Kurian Kaniyamparambil. 

HH Patriarch narrated the efforts made by John in gathering the ancient manuscripts and diligently placing them in the book. HH Congratulated and blessed the author and categorically stated that his work is the beginning. His efforts will definitely show the truth of the establishment of the Catholicate in Malankara in 1912. HH stated that John’s efforts will lead to a solution in the ongoing dispute in Malankara in the near future.
